Discover Your Groove 30 Day Challenge - Day 6
Welcome back to Day 6 of your 30 Day Body Groove Discover Challenge!
Congrats on making it through so far. It’s nearly been a week! There truly is magic in momentum, so stay the course and watch what unfolds as you simply fall in love with this daily process!
In today’s workshop lesson, I share with you about my 16-year battle with bulimia. Hold tight because today we’re going DEEP. I do this because even though my story isn't pretty, I know that many of you can relate. Perhaps not so much with bulimia, but other dysfunctional things we do in an effort to be accepted by others and to love ourselves.
What about you? Have you ever struggled to love your body?
Have you ever felt like you can’t love yourself until you achieve some “ideal” size or shape?
Have you ever felt unworthy of someone else’s love because of your body?
I’ll bet you have.
And while your own personal story might be very similar to mine, or it might be completely different, there’s one thing we all have in common...
None of us were born hating our bodies!
That's right. You weren’t born with those thoughts...they came from somewhere OUTSIDE of you. And they’re NOT TRUE! And today I'm going to show you why.
TODAY’S CHALLENGE:
For your workshop exercise today, I want you to “retrace your steps” so to speak. While doing this it's always important to record your thoughts.
I want you to think through your own personal history and see if you can identify some outside influences in your life that led you to think these untrue thoughts. For me, it was a number of things. My family influence, fashion magazines, MTV, being in the fitness industry.
What are yours?
What experiences and things have you been exposed to - or perhaps currently dealing with - that are negatively influencing the way you see and love yourself?
Once you can recognize the source of these destructive thoughts, you’re better equipped to start thinking new - TRUE - thoughts about yourself.
